Born in Lancashire, I migrated across the Pennines to York and never quite made it back again. After graduating with an English and History degree, and taking further professional qualifications, I began writing articles and short dramas in the gaps between work and family commitments. Taking two accredited writing courses at the University of York, led by the poet Carole Bromley, encouraged me to concentrate on writing poems and novels but, having selected in 2014 as a finalist in Script Yorkshire's 25th anniversary competition, I am also back to writing drama.
